Wednesday January 13th, 2021 | | 1099-NEC Tax Forms
The IRS now wants a 1099-NEC form for you to report any referee fees you received if the amount is $600 or more. There are not many of you that had a chance to do that i... | | Special Meeting of Members
The North Chapter Board is calling a special meeting of the members in order to change our By Laws.
Have you read the current By Laws? Did you know they were posted and linked from ncrefs.org at https://www.ncrefs.org/bylaws? But who likes to read all that anyway?
The board would like to make three changes to the existing By Laws. A summary of those changes is below:
* Add two Board of Directors members. Both of these will be added as Directors At Large. The Board will then consist of a total of nine members. Reason: We think getting more referees involved in how North Chapter is run is a good thing.
* Add more language to the By Laws to make it clear that online meetings are acceptable when necessary (e.g. Zoom meetings). Reason: one word--covid.
* Add a new financial penalty for any member that completes matches but fails to provide sufficient payment information within 90 days of that match. All decisions to enforce this penalty will be by Board vote. Hardship claims and appeals can be made up to 60 days after notice of that decision. Reason: believe it or not, there are several referees that complete matches and then never give us a method to pay them. Trying to track them down and find a way to complete payment is time consuming. We are hoping this penalty will make it easier to do business and keep our financial records in order.
The meeting is currently scheduled via Zoom on January 13th starting at 7:00 PM (meeting details below). It should be short. We will go over the revised document which can be reviewed at the link below and then open for discussion and a vote.
